Coaching CEOs to turn crisis into opportunity and opportunity into sustained growth

From Crisis to Crisis

Fueled by an epiphany in the wake of the 9/11 crisis, Rob Herzog transformed his near miss into a catalyst for change and spent the last 18 years building two companies – ZogSports and ZogCulture – from start-up to the middle market while fulfilling his mission of creating real personal connections, building caring teams and communities and infusing a sense of play into daily life.

His companies have grown every year (impacting the lives of over 1.5 Million people), even through the 2008 financial crisis, because Rob implemented a system to run the companies that helps maintain alignment and focus. He has been able to grow and innovate while finding balance, spending up to 20 hours per week coaching youth sports and taking periodic sabbaticals to work on self-improvement.

As we continue to find our way through the COVID-19 pandemic, Rob has been coaching his companies and other CEOs through the most recent crisis.

How can Rob, a crisis-seasoned Entrepreneur/Coach/Teacher, help you and your company navigate through this economic downturn?

How Will This Change Your Life?

  1. Create a Company Culture where you want to go to work every day, but don't have to
  2. Implement decision making criteria so clear that your team's decisions are the same if not better than yours
  3. Receive strategic advisory and innovation assistance based on 30 years of experience and scaling multiple businesses
  4. Partner with a caring coach to improve accountability and focus on the most important not urgent things
  5. Identify and implement systems and processes to scale your business
  6. Discuss life, relationships and the drivers of happiness - all the other stuff that can affect your success and happiness (confidentially of course)

Team Approach

Whether in business or on the field, your success depends on the strength of your team. Throughout ZogLife’s 18 years, Rob has experienced the successes that a creative and motivated team can achieve as well as the difficulties that a stagnant or misaligned team can present. This includes removing key contributors for core values violations and systematically driving decision making down to those closest to the issue. The keys are hiring great people, creating clear rules and behaviors and really connecting individually and as part of the team.

Navigating Crisis / Return on Luck

Rob will challenge you to capitalize on your luck. Business Guru Jim Collins created the concept of Return on Luck – Good or Bad Return on Good or Bad Luck. For many of us, this pandemic has brought Bad Luck. What are you doing to get Good Return on Bad Luck right now? How are you thinking about the opportunities right now? And if you’ve been fortunate, how are you thoughtfully and purposely exploiting that Good Luck?

“Return on Luck" is a concept developed in the book “Great by Choice”. Our research showed that the great companies were not generally luckier than the comparisons—they did not get more good luck, less bad luck, bigger spikes of luck, or better timing of luck. Instead, they got a higher return on luck, making more of their luck than others. The critical question is not, Will you get luck? but What will you do with the luck that you get?” Jim Collins

For the next 12 to 18 months, every business in America will be affected. Most will need to regroup to survive and thrive (like my two brands) and find ways to take advantage of the Bad Luck.

Testimonial

"As the Owner and Chief Acquisition Officer of one of the leading off-campus student housing providers in the US, Rob has been a trusted confidant for over a decade.  He provides unique insights and perspectives on management strategy that only a battle-tested leader and a fellow entrepreneur can provide.  I have plenty of successful business contacts, but there are only two whose counsel I trust and actively seek.  Rob is one of them.  What separates him from others is that he is unafraid to look you in the eyes and tell you the unvarnished truth.  He communicates in a way that is honest and thought-provoking yet non-confrontational.   I am blessed to count on Rob as a business ally who wants to see me succeed."  Andrew Layton, Owner/Chief Acquisition Officer, Student Quarters, New York/Atlanta
